Pecan pie cinnamon rolls

vegan pecan pie cinnamon rolls

Hi there! Yes, I’m still alive. I’mma make this post quick and dirty (or as much so as is possible in this corner of the internet) because I’ve got a shit ton of homework to do and this lazy Sunday is drawing to a close all too rapidly.

These cinnamon rolls began when I got a copy of Dessert Mash-Ups, the book by Dorothy Kern, for Christmas last year (that’s where having a GoodReads wish-list comes in handy, people). That book is full of devilishly good ideas, but I was immediately drawn to these cinnamon rolls. Obviously. I never say no to a good cinnamon roll.

Antique caramel cake

Geez it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on this here blog, hasn’t it? And by “a long time”, I mean “approximately two weeks”, which is basically the same thing when you have my attention span.

If there was ever a recipe I would recommend you not make, it would be this. Because holy shit, this stuff is dangerous

Pumpkin spice toffee bundt cake (#BundtBakers)

Time for another Bundt Bakers post, folks! This month, the theme is cinnamon, our host is Sew You Think You Can Cook, and June is once again using this whole thing as an excuse to post more terribly unseasonal recipes. Yes, this cake has pumpkin in it. Deal w/ it.

Mexican chocolate cake with whipped ganache and candied serrano peppers

Here’s one way to say I love you: bake this cake.

Or buy it. If you’re one of the people going to the “chocolate auction” at my mother’s church tomorrow, feel free to skip the kitchen and purchase this very cake for yourself. I hate you.*

Almond Joy tart

Are you in need of a new show to binge watch? Wait, stupid question—of course you are. We all are. And today, I have the perfect recommendation for you: a beautiful little show called Mozart in the Jungle.

Being a total music nerd (and a reluctant fan of classical music), I was instantly intrigued by the premise of a comedy-drama centering on a fictional New York symphony, described by the tagline “sex, drugs, and classical music”. And yeah, it delivers on all three things. In abundance.

Coconut white chocolate blondies

vegan coconut white chocolate blondies

For whatever reason, I have posted shockingly few bar desserts on this blog. Not because I dislike bars—in fact, one might say I enjoy them to a dangerous degree—but probably because they are a little too easy, and we all know I have expressed great disdain for fast, easy desserts in the past. I like desserts that are complex and multi-layered, special-occasion treats that require slaving over a hot stove for hours to make.

And you know what? That’s a damn shame. Because bar desserts are frickin awesome.
